These days when I was scrambling for ideas to write this month's newsletter, I stumbled upon a story about a used-to-be millionaire now residing on a remote island for 25 years. David Glasheen, 78 years old now, was $30 million worthy before the stock crash in 1978.

He looks like Santa with his white beard, resting at the beach. And it reminds me of a book I read with my son a few weeks ago, Santa Claustrophobia, a book for kids by Mike Reiss and David Catrow. In the story, Santa was so stressed that he kept having nightmares about being stuck in the chimney. The doctor of the town advised Santa to take a break in Hawaii while other holiday characters chimed in to help prepare and deliver presents to the kids all over the world.

You may find yourself stressed these days, especially women who are usually the ones preparing presents and food for the whole family.
Or you may be tired from the rat race even though you are working from home. And you may dream of being able to rest in a remote place where money is not the thing you are chasing. A lot of people really plan to have their retirement castaway, trying to escape from their headache-causing reality.
In the meantime, we will have to live in the present and plan for the future.
